Pre Renal vs. Renal cause of Kidney Failure

Pre Renal cause of Kidney failure

Urea is something that the body uses to generate osmotic potential so as to facilitate in the resorption of Water.

HyperUremia or increased concentration of Urea in the blood I think is a common side effect of all diuretics.

So what happens is that when the body kind of senses that it doesnt have enough of water in the blood vessels then it activates the Renin Angiontensin and Aldosterone and a lot of other things. What the body does is, that it starts resabsorbing water by the Help of Urea.

So the body uses Urea to reabsorb water. so in prerenal failure there is increased BUN.

Renal cause of Kidney failure

Creatinine is something the body cannot really take care of so it throws it away. the body is still more comfortable with Urea.

Secretion of Creatinine in the tubular filtrate occurs in PCT I suppose.

In renal kidney failure the body is unable to throw Creatinine so what happens is that CREATININE in the blood increases.
