Why cannot some books sold in developing countries be sold in developed countries

If you live in a developing country, you may have seen a note on certain books, forbidding the sale of the book in developed countries.

The reason is that the books are sold at higher prices in developed countries but in developing countries the publishers cut down on their profits so as to sell those books because otherwise a lot less people may be able to afford those books, books sold in developing countries may also have poor quality paper and print.

If the books meant for developing countries were allowed to be smuggled into developed countries, most people will choose to pay less and buy books that are meant to be sold in developing countries. This would force the publishers to cut down on their profits in developed countries too, this is the reason why certain books sold in developing countries cannot be sold in developed countries.
